In 2012, Koan Health was born to empower ACO leaders and providers with the tools and data-driven insights to deliver better outcomes and lower costs across each population. Our flagship product, Datalyst™, initially provided cost and utilization analytics primarily through claims data and was unmatched in accuracy and quick implementation time.
In 2017, Koan Health acquired the quality analytics division of ZirMed (now Waystar) and expanded our suite of SaaS solutions to help with every aspect of population health management – from cost and network utilization to quality and post-acute care.

“Koan” honors the philosophy and contributions of Hippocrates, the renowned Greek physician who’s been called the father of medicine. At his school on the island of Kos, near the western coast of Turkey, Hippocrates trained physicians in a unique, patient-centered approach to health and healing.
The school placed great emphasis on observing and documenting the patient’s family history, environment and condition. By recording symptoms—like complexion, pulse, fever, pains, movement and excretions—and treatments in great detail, Hippocrates and his students created valuable records to guide ongoing care and teach new physicians.
